La Altagracia.– The Dominican Spine Surgery Society (SDCC) opened its 10th Congress this Wednesday, together with the V International Course of the Ibero-Latin American Spine Society (SILACO), a scientific meeting that brings together national and international specialists to update knowledge and share the most recent advances in the treatment of spinal pathologies.
During the opening day, the Research Project Workshop and the module on Pediatric Scoliosis were held, in which topics related to scientific research, the use of artificial intelligence applied to medicine, and advances in the diagnosis and treatment of scoliosis were addressed.
The president of the Dominican Society of Spine Surgery (SDCC), Dr. Carlos Rodríguez, highlighted that this 10th Congress constitutes a high-level academic update space for specialists.
“This congress will allow national and international specialists to update their knowledge and learn about the latest therapeutic innovations, thus strengthening the quality of care we provide to our patients,” he/she stated.
As part of the scientific program, Dr. Rodríguez was part of the group of speakers for this first module, along with Dr. Johan Fernández, former president of the Society and active member, as well as other national and international specialists, who shared their knowledge and experiences with the participants.
The congress is aimed at neurosurgeons, spine surgeons, orthopedists and traumatologists, physiatrists, pain management specialists, physical therapists, medical residents, and other health professionals interested in spinal pathology.

The scientific program, which takes place at the Live Aqua Punta Cana Convention Center, will run from July 29 to August 1 and includes keynote lectures, round tables with international experts, clinical case presentations, interactive discussions, workshops, and hands-on sessions on scoliosis, trauma, degenerative diseases, tumors, endoscopic surgery, applied technology, bone weakness, infections, cervical pathology, and revision surgery.
