Santo Domingo.– Dominican taekwondo athlete Wilfrido de la Cruz secured his spot in the semifinals of the -54 kilogram category at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, after decisively defeating Guatemalan Wilfrido de la Cruz in the quarterfinals.

De la Cruz dominated the match from start to finish and took the victory 2-0. In the first round, he prevailed with a score of 17-2, while in the second, he once again demonstrated his superiority by winning 18-2, thus sealing his qualification for the next round.

With this result, the representative of the Dominican Republic keeps alive the aspirations of adding a new medal for the national delegation in taekwondo, one of the disciplines in which the country has had outstanding performances during the regional event.
