Santiago.- Family members of Miguel Ángel Miranda Flete, 23 years old, reported that the Cibao Central regional director of the National Police in Santiago, General Juan Bautista Jiménez Reinoso, had urged them not to give statements to the press, after the death of the young man, which occurred after receiving a gunshot to the head during a police intervention in the La Ceibita sector, on December 25th. According to a relative of the victim, the high-ranking officer told them not to speak to the media, alleging that “the press is only looking for money” with regrettable events like this, a recommendation they claim was reiterated during a meeting held with the general to discuss the case. Family members expressed their outrage at these statements and reiterated their demand for justice, while demanding that the young man’s death not go unpunished.
