FEDA donates three thousand coconut seedlings to 30 producers from the communities of Juancho, Oviedo and La Colonia

FEDA impacts various communities in the province of Pedernales

Pedernales.- Within the framework of the 10th Route of Paradise, the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA) carried out 12 activities in the province of Pedernales where it included the donation of three thousand coconut seedlings to 30 producers from the communities of Juancho, Oviedo and La Colonia, in the Launch of the Coconut Planting Plan in the City Council of the municipality of Oviedo to guarantee this production so demanded by the tourism of the area. In the communities of Maipioró, Macandela, in Las Lomas and in La Colonia de Juancho, the Launches of the Plan Madres del Campo were also carried out, with the donation of one thousand laying hens and seedlings, the conference Empowerment of Dominican Women, aimed at entrepreneurial women who wish to start a business. In addition, the head of FEDA, Hecmilio Galván, delivered 300 gri-gri seedlings at the Urban Arborization Training workshops held at the Pedernales City Hall and the Juancho Community Center, where FEDA technicians offered guidance to community members and local authorities on the importance of planting trees in urban areas, highlighting their positive impact on the environment, reducing heat, and improving the quality of life of citizens.

“This is a motivation that we, as FEDA, provide to farmers so they can produce coconut, undertake, and become entrepreneurs over time. I hope it will be a blessing for this community. Today we will be positively impacting 12 activities simultaneously, fulfilling our government’s objective of reaching every corner of our country,” said Galván.

In addition, training was offered to producers on the management, planting, and care of the seedlings, with the aim of ensuring the success of production and strengthening the sustainability of this crop in the South zone of the country. The FEDA impacted various communities in the Deep South with workshops and training, as well as deliveries of seedlings, laying hens, and tools for farmers. In the communities of Los Tres Charcos, El Cajuil and in the Juancho Community Center, a Workshop on Agroecology was held, where tools were given to farmers, as well as in the Juancho park, the training of the Siembra Tu Patio Program was carried out, where avocado seedlings and vegetable seeds were delivered. While in the Oviedo City Council, a conference on agricultural entrepreneurship was given, through the Emprende RD program, with the aim of motivating young people to be productive and create their own resources so that they do not have the need to migrate from the countryside to the city. With these actions, the director of FEDA, Hecmilio Galván, along with a team of men and women who accompany him on his tours throughout the country, reaffirms his commitment to agriculture, the countryside, and national production .
