Government will cover medical expenses of person injured in accident with presidential motorcade

Santo Domingo.- The head of the Presidential Security Corps (Cusep), Major General Jimmy Arias, reported that the person injured as a result of an accident with a vehicle from the presidential advance team this morning is receiving medical attention at the Bournigal Clinic in Puerto Plata, and the Government will assume all medical expenses, by order of President Luis Abinader. Arias pointed out that the two injured military personnel were transferred by helicopter to Cedimat, in the National District, and that with the injured civilian it was preferred not to move him and attend to him in Puerto Plata.   The traffic accident occurred on the morning of this Monday, April 27, on the Maimón–Puerto Plata highway section, while personnel from the presidential advance team were traveling to an official activity in the province.

It is recalled that two vehicles were involved in the incident: an official unit assigned to the presidential escort and a civilian vehicle. As a result of the accident, two members of the presidential escort and one civilian citizen presented various traumas. It is stated that the President of the Republic was not traveling in the said motorcade at the time of the incident.
