Santo Domingo. In an event led by the Vice President of the Republic Raquel Peña, the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (
INDOTEL) and the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement through which 1,444 scholarships from the Talento Digital RD program are granted to teachers to strengthen their digital skills and raise the educational quality with the use of technology in the classrooms.
The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the ADP by the president of the Board of Directors of INDOTEL, Guido Gómez Mazara, and the president of the ADP, Eduardo Hidalgo, who agreed that this agreement marks a decisive step in the joint effort to put technology at the service of the people and Dominican education.
The Vice President assured that this training process aims to promote innovative and interdisciplinary learning from the classrooms and that from the Government, under the leadership of President Luis Abinader, there is a commitment to continue promoting initiatives that place teachers at the center of educational and digital transformation.
“This agreement between INDOTEL and the ADP is a demonstration of shared will to promote innovation and strengthen teaching in our country, and the creation of new training routes that strengthen teaching quality and prepare our educational community for the challenges of the digital age,” added the also president of the Education Cabinet.
Likewise, Gómez Mazara explained that this agreement represents a concrete opportunity for teachers to access the digital tools demanded by the present and the future, and that they are working in INDOTEL with the vision that technological transformation reaches every classroom and every home in the country.
“This agreement stipulates the delivery of 1,444 scholarships for teachers to train in technological areas, under the understanding that education is the most solid bridge to connect Dominicans with more and better opportunities,” said Gómez Mazara, assuring that the challenge they have is to extend this technological training to the entire teaching staff of the country.
The agreement establishes that the ADP will identify teachers who meet the program requirements and manage the distribution of scholarships in its 174 sections, which is equivalent to about eight scholarships for each one. The union will also have the responsibility of motivating the benefited teachers to complete the training and of disseminating in its institutional channels the benefits and results of this alliance.
For his part, the president of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), Eduardo Hidalgo, emphasized that the agreement reflects the union’s commitment to the continuous training of teachers.
“The ADP is transforming, but it’s not just a slogan, it’s a permanent action. Our priority is to ensure that teachers are up-to-date on key issues such as the use of information and communication technologies, so that they can be agents of positive change in the classrooms and with their students,” Hidalgo pointed out.
“In that sense, we want to thank Guido Gómez Mazara, president of the Board of Directors of INDOTEL, for his support and commitment to Dominican education. We also want to congratulate our teachers for their dedication and effort in the pursuit of educational excellence,” Hidalgo highlighted.
