Santo Domingo.- Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) deputies, Ramón Bueno and Carlos Sánchez, agreed that the bill to reform the Organic Law of the National Police must be analyzed carefully when it reaches the Chamber of Deputies, considering it an initiative of high interest to Dominican society.
Ramón Bueno maintained that the piece must be evaluated “with great vision,” because the public remains focused on its content following recent cases in which police patrols have been involved.
Likewise, he stated that one of the main objectives of the reform is to correct those actions.
“We have to put a stop to all these unfortunate cases that the police patrols are causing,” the legislator expressed.
For his part, the president of the Permanent Commission on Interior and Police of the Chamber of Deputies, Carlos Sánchez, ruled out that the approval in the first reading in the Senate was a response to pressure from recent events, noting that the bill had been worked on in that legislative chamber for months.

However, he assured that the initiative will be reviewed calmly in the Lower House.
“There is no rush. We are going to work on it with great calm and great patience so as not to abort such an important law that the citizenry is waiting for,” stated Sánchez, who announced that the commission is already studying the content of the bill to expedite its consideration once it is sent by the Senate.
