Buenos Aires.- Lionel Messi arrived this Saturday in the city of Rosario, in the Argentine province of Santa Fe, to participate with his family in the farewell of his father, Jorge Messi, who passed away during the early hours of the day in a clinic where he had been admitted due to complications from a long illness.
The star landed with a private plane around 8:40 p.m. local time (23:40 GMT) at the Rosario airport, after taking off from Fort Lauderdale, in the state of Florida, United States, where he resides.
Amidst a security operation, a van transported Lionel to the family property located in an exclusive neighborhood in the same city.
Messi reunites this Saturday with his mother, Celia Cuccittini, and his siblings Rodrigo, Matías, and María Sol, who had to face the news that his father Jorge, 68, died at 02:00 local time (05:00 GMT) on Saturday at the Centro sanatorium located in the Santa Fe city.

The Messi family will bid farewell to Jorge this Sunday at El Prado cemetery, a private property located on the outskirts of Rosario, in a funeral that, according to local media, will be intimate and reserved for a few close relatives.
