Santo Domingo.– With the presence of more than 60 communication professionals, the Ministry of Public Administration (MAP) began this Friday with the first edition of the “Specialized Course in Public Administration for Journalists and Communicators”. This training initiative, which will last six weeks, seeks to foster an ethical view on public communication, promoting data journalism, access to information, and the contextualized analysis of public policies. In addition, it seeks to expand knowledge about the structure and functioning of public administration, with emphasis on its actors, functions, and regulatory frameworks, to facilitate accurate and contextualized information coverage; promote ethical and responsible approaches in the treatment of institutional information, contributing to transparency and the strengthening of public trust, among other objectives. In his words, he stated that the course was designed with the work of communicators in mind, who every day, through their writings, audiovisual content and the like, help to shape public opinion in the country.

“All this content is aimed not only at informing, but at generating criteria. Because you, from your media and platforms, build narratives, give meaning to what people understand by “State”, by “public management”, by “institutionality”. And that power must be backed by knowledge”, stated the MAP communications director.

The first module, called “Introduction to Public Administration” was taught by the director of the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP), Gregorio Montero, who is a jurist, specialist in Political Science and master in Administration and Public Policies; in addition to having served as secretary general of the Latin American Center for Administration for Development (CLAD) for two periods and being a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration.
