Mariel Guerrero explodes again against Laura Bonnelly: “I have had to pray for the one who destroyed my home”

Santo Domingo.- Communicator Mariel Guerrero is once again trending on social media after an excerpt from a recent live broadcast went viral in which she revisits the topic of communicator Laura Bonnelly, with whom her ex-partner Juan Carlos Simó was romantically linked at the beginning of the year, in an intense controversy that caused the breakup of their marriage engagement. Mariel’s video has stirred up a hornet’s nest and with it a wave of comments that revive a controversy that seemed to have been left behind. During the broadcast, two followers directly asked Guerrero if he had managed to forgive Laura Bonnelly. His response was forceful and emotional, making it clear that the healing process has not yet concluded. “I’ve had to pray, I’ve had to pray for the one who destroyed my house,” she expressed, visibly affected, taking a very different stance from the one she had shown in previous statements where she was more conciliatory. Mariel went further by admitting that, although her faith guides her, forgiveness has not fully reached her heart. “I still don’t have forgiveness in my heart, I have to pray for my enemies“, she affirmed, hinting at the deep emotional impact that this episode has had on her personal and spiritual life.

At a particularly sensitive moment during the live broadcast, the communicator added: “I have to pray for those who are doing witchcraft on me, I have to pray for those who have made a hole in my soul”.

Origin of the controversy

In February 2025, communicator Laura Bonnelly and fitness instructor Juan Carlos Simó shook up the local entertainment scene, following the circulation of two photographs in which both appear in an apparent romantic scene, including a kiss on the mouth. The images quickly went viral and generated a great stir on social media. The surprise was greater because, at that time, Juan Carlos Simó was in a relationship with the also communicator Marola Guerrero, with whom he has a daughter. The scandal caused a wave of comments and speculations, placing the three involved in an intense love triangle. Days after the images went viral, Simó shared a post on his social media with what many called a “double entendre“. Although the message referred to food and the sins committed in that context, it drew attention that it began with the phrase: “Everyone is a saint when they talk about the sins of others!“. This expression was interpreted by people as a direct response to the public pronouncements made by Marola Guerrero. Subsequently, Laura Bonnelly spoke about her romantic relationship with the fitness instructor during an interview with communicator Miralba Ruiz. In that space, Bonnelly assured that Simó had informed her that he had been separated from his daughter’s mother for six months. However, she hinted that he had not been completely honest regarding his relationship with Marola Guerrero. Faced with the controversy, Marola Guerrero reacted through a statement released on her social media, in which she announced the cancellation of her marriage engagement with Juan Carlos Simó. In the text, she explained that her decision was based on events that broke her trust, and she assured that she chose to close that chapter of her life prioritizing the well-being of her daughter.

“After a period of deep reflection and prayer, I have made the decision to cancel my marriage engagement and go our separate ways in my relationship with Juan Carlos Simó. This decision is based on facts that have broken the trust and commitment that we had both built,” Guerrero expressed.

The communicator added that she firmly believes in the values of respect, loyalty, and fidelity as fundamental pillars of the family, and that her faith led her to understand that, on occasion, closing a cycle is necessary to open the door to a future of peace and growth. At the end of the statement, she thanked for the support received and assured that she forgave her ex-partner: “To you, Juan Carlos, I forgive you! With gratitude and respect.”

Following the scandal, Juan Carlos Simó offered a public apology through his official Instagram account, addressed to Marola Guerrero, whom he defined as “the woman he loves” and the mother of his daughter. In his message, he acknowledged having committed “a serious error” and assumed full responsibility for his actions.

“I want to address the person I have deeply hurt with my behavior, the woman I love, the mother of my daughter, Mariel C. Guerrero. I recognize that I have made a serious mistake and there are no excuses for what I did”, expressed Simó, without directly mentioning Laura Bonnelly. The instructor also referred to the photographs that circulated on social media, assuring that these do not reflect the values or respect that he should have demonstrated, especially towards his family and his daughter. In addition, he regretted the negative impact of media exposure and acknowledged the pain caused to his close circle. Finally, Simó reiterated his regret and assured that he is taking steps to learn from the situation. “Perhaps the forgiveness I aspire to will not be immediate or easy, but I am committed to being a better person,” he concluded, expressing his wish that this episode serve as a learning experience and reflection on the responsibility of his actions. It should be remembered that Marola Guerrero made public her relationship with Juan Carlos Simó in April 2019 and, months later, announced that she was pregnant with their first daughter together. From the beginning of the relationship, followers on social media expressed criticism, pointing out the marked age difference between the two.
