Cali (Colombia) .- The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, stated this Friday that his Government will contribute to Colombia’s with its experience in security, after attending the inauguration of Abelardo de la Espriella as leader of the Andean country.
“We will be able to contribute our experience. In fact, our current Minister of Security (Alejandra Monteoliva) has lived and worked for many years in Colombia, so we will be able to collaborate strongly,” Milei told journalists in Cali (southwest), where the inauguration ceremony took place.
In that sense, the Argentine head of state pointed out that Colombia will be able to learn from the Argentine experience “fighting drug trafficking in the province of Santa Fe, in Rosario.”
The president also highlighted the new Colombian government’s decision to join the Shield of the Americas—an initiative devised by President Donald Trump to coordinate actions against organized crime—because “it has to do with the strategic alignment of the region” and will make it “secure.”

“For now, we have an excellent relationship and we have managed to demonstrate that those leaders, when they have a very good rapport, can make deep progress in carrying out reforms that benefit both countries, and we are working hard on that,” he added regarding how the work with De la Espriella’s Executive branch will be.
Finally, the Argentine president pointed out that De la Espriella’s predecessor, Gustavo Petro, with whom he used to clash on social media, “is part of the worst history of Colombia.”
