Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Defense (MIDE) began this Tuesday the delivery of the “Salary Check per Year” to the military personnel who recently transitioned to the honorable condition of retirement, fulfilling the announcement made in a timely manner and reaffirming the institutional commitment to dignify and protect those who served for decades in the defense and security of the Dominican Republic.
The activity took place at the facilities of the Social Security Institute of the Armed Forces (ISSFFAA) and was headed by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre (ERD), accompanied by the director of the ISSFFAA, Rear Admiral Henry Antonio Guzmán Taveras (ARD).
During the event, Minister Fernández Onofre highlighted that this delivery does not constitute a gift, but an acquired right for each military personnel, in accordance with article 169 of Law 139-13, which establishes compensation for years of service within the Integral Social Security System of the Armed Forces. He explained that this benefit comes from the contributions made by the members themselves while they were on active duty.
The head of the MIDE pointed out that this delivery represents not only a legal duty, but a moral obligation of the institution with those who for years upheld the national flag with honor and embodied the discipline, values and spirit of service that distinguish the Armed Forces.

Likewise, he emphasized that this day constitutes an exercise in accountability, transparency, and respect towards retirees, reiterating that, as long as he is at the head of the institution, military social security will continue to be strengthened to ensure that active and retired personnel remain protected and accompanied.
The Minister of Defense also acknowledged the extraordinary effort of the ISSFFAA to organize this process with efficiency, responsibility and clarity, and expressed his apologies for the waiting time, while reaffirming his personal commitment to defend and preserve the solidity of the social security system of the Armed Forces.
The delivery process will continue according to the established schedule, in order to ensure that each beneficiary receives their compensation in an organized and timely manner.
