The Ministry of Women urged the country’s media outlets to systematically incorporate helplines and available care services into reports related to gender-based violence, domestic violence, and femicides, as a measure that can contribute to saving lives and facilitating timely access to protection and assistance.

The institution considered that, in addition to reporting on the facts, journalistic coverage can play a fundamental role in the prevention of violence by offering victims and their environments clear information on where to seek support.

In that sense, he/she proposed that press releases, reports, interviews, and other content related to this issue include visible references to the main support channels available to women and families facing situations of violence.

These services include the *212 Line of the Ministry of Women, which offers guidance, psychological support, and legal assistance; the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Attention System, for cases of immediate danger; and the *211 Life Line of the Public Ministry, enabled to receive reports and provide guidance in situations of violence.

The Ministry of Women highlighted that the social responsibility of the media transcends the dissemination of events and extends to the promotion of actions that contribute to the protection of rights and the prevention of risk situations.

The entity pointed out that the inclusion of these help channels in publications can become an effective tool to bring care services closer to people who, in many cases, are unaware of the institutional routes available to receive support and protection.

Likewise, he/she expressed gratitude for the collaboration of journalists, producers, media directors, and news companies, while reiterating his/her willingness to continue working in a coordinated manner to strengthen prevention and response actions against violence against women and domestic violence.
