Berlin.— New Year’s Eve celebrations in Berlin saw altercations, multiple arrests, and several people injured, according to local police.
During the early hours of the morning, authorities detained hundreds of people, mainly for the dangerous use of fireworks and other pyrotechnic objects that caused clashes with security forces. In several parts of the city, police officers and emergency workers were injured by the impact of firecrackers and rockets while trying to control the situation.
The arrests focused on violations of regulations on explosive devices and other crimes committed during the celebrations. In addition to those arrested, several people were injured.
