Opening of the Transition to Adult Life and Employment Classroom in Samaná: A firm step towards inclusion

Santo Domingo. – With the firm commitment to move towards a more inclusive and functional education, the Transition to Adult and Labor Life Classroom was inaugurated at the Prof. Andrea de Peña Educational Center, belonging to the 14-04 Educational District, Samaná. This space is designed to strengthen the personal, social, and labor skills of students with disabilities, preparing them for an autonomous, active, and dignified life within their community. The inaugural event was led by the director of Education Regional 14, María Luisa de la Cruz, along with the district director Licda. Adalberta Lucía Calcaño Maldonado, who has been a key player in the management, planning, and realization of this important achievement. Her tireless dedication and transformative vision have allowed this project to materialize as a direct response to the inclusion policies of the Ministry of Education, through the Special Education Department. The ceremony was attended by national, regional, and district technicians, teachers, students, families, and community leaders, who celebrated this progress as a symbol of equity and institutional commitment. The classroom is equipped with adapted resources and differentiated pedagogical strategies, aimed at young people from the age of 12. Its implementation responds to the full inclusion approach, where each student receives personalized support to develop skills that promote their independence, employability, and active participation in society. Regional 14 and the technical team of District 14-04 reiterated their commitment to pedagogical follow-up and continuous training that guarantee the sustainability of the program.
