Bogotá.– Colombia’s president-elect, Abelardo de la Espriella, announced that he will close the country’s embassies in Algeria, Azerbaijan, Barbados, Cuba, Czechia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, Hungary, Malaysia, Nicaragua, Romania, Senegal, and South Africa.
In addition, he announced that plans for the opening of a Colombian embassy in Palestine will be canceled and that Colombia’s diplomatic missions in France, to UNESCO, and Italy, to the FAO, will be merged.
According to reports, Colombia will maintain diplomatic relations with all countries, except for Cuba and Nicaragua.
The measures are part of the changes announced by the president-elect for the country’s diplomatic structure.

So far, no details have been provided regarding the date these measures would come into effect or the process for closing the diplomatic missions.
