Bangkok.- Princess Bajrakitiyabha, the eldest daughter of the King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn, passed away this Thursday after more than three years hospitalized due to complications derived from a serious heart condition she suffered in December 2022.
The Thai Royal House reported the death of the 46-year-old princess, who had been admitted to Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok since she lost consciousness during a canine training session. Subsequently, doctors determined that she was suffering from a bacterial infection that caused inflammation of the heart and severe cardiac disturbances.
Bajrakitiyabha was the monarch’s eldest daughter and one of the most visible figures in the Thai royal family. A lawyer by profession, she developed a distinguished career in public service, serving as a prosecutor, diplomat, and representative of Thailand to various international bodies, including United Nations programs.

Her state of health had generated national concern since her hospitalization in 2022. Although the Royal House reported on several occasions that she was stable, the princess continued to depend on specialized medical assistance due to complications that affected vital organs.

The death of Bajrakitiyabha is a heavy blow to the Thai monarchy, which loses one of its most prepared members with the greatest institutional projection. Her figure was considered key within the royal family due to her legal and diplomatic experience and her closeness to the official duties of the kingdom.
Thai authorities are planning religious ceremonies and official tributes in the coming days to bid farewell to the princess, whose career was marked by public service and Thailand’s international representation.
