Santo Domingo. – In a joint interdiction effort, which constitutes a new offensive to attack and eradicate drug trafficking, in the Capotillo sector, National District, agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and members of the National Police, coordinated by the Public Ministry, arrested several men and seized more than 3,000 grams of alleged cocaine and marijuana. The operations against micro-trafficking, which are periodically carried out in the neighborhood, are part of the authorities’ intervention strategies to bring more tranquility and security to the area. In the most recent operation, agents, police officers, and prosecutors seized 3,095 grams of a white powder presumably cocaine, as well as 41 grams of a plant that appears to be marijuana, wrapped in plastic bags of different sizes and colors. During the intervention, seven men were arrested and, in addition, 04 surveillance cameras, 03 cell phones, RD$ 11,395.00 Dominican pesos, one dollar, and other utensils for the packaging and distribution of narcotics were seized. The operational teams intervened in the Callejón de los Cibaeñitos, El Túnel, at the back of 42nd Street, including the alleys that connect with that part of the neighborhood, among other places. “The detainees will be brought to justice in the coming hours for violation of Law 50-88, on drugs and controlled substances, while security agencies continue to reinforce their operational capacity against drug micro-trafficking throughout the national territory.”
