SNTP mourns the passing of journalist Fomerio Rodríguez, a founding member of the CDP

SANTO DOMINGO.– The National Union of Press Workers (SNTP), led by its National Secretary, Manuel Ureña Ángeles, and the board of directors, expresses its deepest regret and sincere solidarity regarding the irreparable loss of the distinguished journalist Formerio Rodríguez, considered a benchmark and father of Dominican journalism.

Rodríguez, who in his lifetime was a founding member of both the SNTP and the Dominican College of Journalists (CDP), leaves an immense void in the media and in the defense of the rights of press professionals in the Dominican Republic.

We join in the grief that overwhelms the entire journalistic community and his family upon the passing of a historic union leader and an exemplary professional. May his soul rest in peace“, stated Manuel Ureña Ángeles on behalf of the guild.

Funeral services will begin this July 14th at the Gresefu Funeral Home in Boca Chica. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 15th at 9:30 A.M. at the San José Episcopal Church. Meanwhile, the burial procession will depart for its final resting place at 11:00 A.M. on the same Wednesday.
