Santo Domingo.– A tour conducted on the morning of Thursday, December 25th, through different neighborhoods of the National District showed an atmosphere of calm and normalcy after the celebration of Christmas Eve, with most commercial establishments closed and a limited circulation of people and vehicles.
In visited sectors, such as Cristo Rey, Capotillo, Simón Bolívar, Villa Juana and Villa Consuelo, the streets were observed clear, with little vehicular flow and few commercial activities, reflecting the traditional rest typical of Christmas Day. Grocery stores, businesses and shops remained mostly closed, while some residents shared in a moderate way in front of their homes.
Neighbors consulted agreed that the day has unfolded peacefully, with no reports of serious incidents or situations that disrupted order.
“Everything has been calm, people sharing peacefully, without problems,” commented Pancho Gutiérrez, resident of Simón Bolivar.
Another community member pointed out that “it was drunk with control and no major accidents have been seen.”
According to the testimonies gathered, the celebrations took place in a mostly family atmosphere, with moderate consumption of alcoholic beverages and without any regrettable incidents so far.
The observed tranquility contrasts with other years in which more incidents were recorded during the festivities, which for many residents responds to a greater civic awareness and the preventive deployment of the authorities during the Christmas holiday.
Until mid-morning of this December 25th, the general perception among the community is of a peaceful Christmas, marked by rest, conviviality and respect for public order.
