SANTO DOMINGO – President Luis Abinader reiterated this Monday that the test runs of the Line 2-C of the Santo Domingo Metro, which will connect kilometer 9 of the Duarte highway with the entrance to Los Alcarrizos, will begin in September 2025.
In that sense, the president specified during LA Semanal that the tests that went viral this weekend were a success, while he highlighted that he will invite the opposition to the upcoming tests, due to their constant criticisms.
“I am going to go to one of the tests in the first week of September, and it is working… So far everything has been working well (…) You know that the opposition talks about everything, criticizes everything and in the end they don’t look good because what the Government promises is being done, and I am going to invite the friends of the opposition to the test”, he added.
As scheduled by the official schedule of the Office for the Reordering of Transportation (OPRET), after the testing period, the line will be ready to operate to the public in February 2026.
The extension of Line 2-C will positively impact approximately one million citizens residing in Santo Domingo and neighboring municipalities, who will benefit from a more efficient and modern transportation network.
