Santiago.- After more than 15 years of abandonment, the City Hall of
Santiago restarted the completion works of the Central Fire Station, with an investment of RD$66.5 million, contributed by the central government and the municipal budget.
The work, located in the El Dorado sector, had been unfinished since past administrations and now seeks to provide the city with a modern infrastructure that guarantees better service conditions and response to emergencies.
Mayor Ulises Rodríguez highlighted that this is a commitment fulfilled with the citizenry.
“Many thought it would never be completed, but today we demonstrate with facts that it is possible. This station will allow firefighters to serve and protect in dignified conditions,” he expressed.
The Council of Aldermen approved that the station be named after former mayor José Enrique Sued, in recognition of his initiative to begin construction.
The work includes structural reinforcement, administrative areas, garages for four units, bedrooms, offices, dining room, kitchen, mechanical areas, as well as modern facilities such as electric generators, inclusive ramps and a wall of honor.
The restart act was attended by municipal, business, and community authorities, as well as representatives of the Fire Department, who described the project as a collective achievement and of transcendence for the city.
