Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Republic continues to consolidate its regional leadership in security, stability, and freedom of the press, according to the latest international indicators presented this Monday during “LA Semanal con la Prensa”.

In that sense, this places the Dominican Republic as the sixth most peaceful country in the region and number 73 worldwide, surpassing the Latin American average of 2.18. The result reflects the reduction in crime, the effectiveness of social prevention, low militarization, and sustained political stability. In terms of press freedom, the 2025 Index of Reporters Without Borders placed the country in 43rd place out of 180 nations, and fifth in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a score of 70 out of 100, well above the regional average of 54.18. The Dominican Republic stood out in the indicators of political context, social governance and legal framework. These advances add to the achievements in democratic governance, institutional transparency, and the fight against corruption, consolidating the country’s position as a benchmark for stability and development in the region.
