Santiago.- The judge Yaritza Cabral, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santiago, imposed this Friday three months of preventive detention as a coercive measure against Marino Antonio Ceballos, accused of allegedly participating in the murder of Margarita Díaz, known as “La China”, which occurred in the Los Solares sector of Bella Vista in this city. Furthermore, the court declared the process to be of complex litigation due to the characteristics of the investigation.
The decision was confirmed after the hearing concluded by lawyer Bienvenido Martínez, legal representative for Robert Hanns Sánchez Tejada, the victim’s romantic partner, who served as a witness to the murder, as he was with her at the time of the attack and remained unharmed.
One of the aspects that has drawn attention in the process is that Sánchez Tejada is listed as a victim within the file, despite the fact that he is currently serving pretrial detention for a different criminal act, a situation that is part of the elements analyzed during the investigation.
For his part, Ángel Toribio Tineo, defense attorney for Marino Antonio Ceballos (Marianito), rejected the coercive measure imposed by the court, considering that the Public Prosecutor’s Office did not present sufficient evidence to directly link his client to the crime.
The murder of Margarita Díaz, widely known in sectors of Santiago due to the shock generated among family members and residents of Bella Vista, continues under investigation by the authorities, who are seeking to clarify the circumstances and determine the corresponding criminal responsibilities.
