Santo Domingo.- The spokesman for the National Police, Diego Pesqueira, gave statements this Friday from the Ensanche Naco detachment, where journalist Edward Ramírez was located, after having been reported missing by his family since Wednesday night.
“The first thing is to regret these types of situations. We, at this moment, are going to talk with Edward; we would like to hear his version first, to get all the details, to see the circumstances, including the person he says he called, who supposedly did not contact or inform his family,” Pesqueira expressed to the media.

He indicated that one of the steps will be to establish from what moment the disappearance report was filed with the institution’s Missing Persons Department. “We are going to wait for the investigation to provide us with the necessary elements to offer a concrete and complete statement during the day. We don’t want to get into a confrontation at this time, because the evidence will speak,” he added. Pesqueira insisted that the important thing is that the journalist is doing well and that all the necessary elements are being gathered to clarify what happened. “We will provide all the details later. The important thing is that he is well and that the investigative process can be finalized.” Preliminary reports indicated that the arrest occurred early Thursday near the Olympic Center.
