President Abinader sends a warm embrace to Dominican mothers on their day

Santo Domingo.- In the framework of the commemoration of Mother’s Day in Dominican Republic, President Luis Abinader sent a big hug to mothers.

On his social media, the president published a photograph of him giving his mother Rosa Sula Corona a kiss with the phrase “I love you very much mom”.

Today, throughout the Dominican Republic, Mother’s Day is celebrated, a commemoration that takes place every last Sunday of May. This is a tradition that dates back to 1926, when it was officially established at the initiative of Trina de Moya, wife of then-president Horacio Vásquez, and the prominent educator Ercilia Pepín, in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros.

It is recalled that the first celebration took place on May 30, 1926, in Santiago de los Caballeros. Trina and Ercilia led the establishment of the Pro-Mother’s Day Committee, with the aim of paying tribute to the maternal figure and fostering a tradition of gratitude and respect.
