Higüey. – Thousands of Dominicans went this Wednesday, January 21, to the Basilica Cathedral of Our Lady of Altagracia, in Higüey, to offer prayers of petition and gratitude to the Spiritual Mother of the Dominican people, within the framework of the celebration of her day.

This day marked by faith and devotion, the faithful expressed their main supplications for the protection of their families, job opportunities, health, and peace for the country.

Many also took the opportunity to thank for favors received, testimonies of healing, stability, and strength in difficult times.

Devotees from different provinces of the country participate in the solemn Eucharist, processions, and liturgical acts, reaffirming the belief in the Virgen de la Altagracia as an intercessor before God and a symbol of hope for the Dominican nation.

For many believers, commemorative activities represent not only a religious tradition, but also a space to renew faith and entrust the personal and collective future to the protection of the Virgin.

The Day of Our Lady of Altagracia, patron saint of the Dominican people, is one of the most important manifestations of faith in the country and every year brings together thousands of people who go to Higüey to express their desires, hopes and gratitude.
