The Mayor’s Office of San Pedro de Macorís announced that, within the framework of the 2026 Gastronomic Fair and the municipality’s patron saint festivities, the largest “pastel en hoja” produced to date in the Dominican Republic will be prepared.
The initiative is part of the event’s core activities and seeks to highlight this traditional dish as one of the main benchmarks of Dominican cuisine, in addition to boosting the participation of local visitors and those from other provinces.

According to municipal authorities, the logistical details of the preparation, as well as the team in charge, the ingredients, and the space where the creation of the gigantic leaf-wrapped cake will take place, will be announced in the coming days.
With this proposal, the municipal administration aims to strengthen the cultural and gastronomic identity of the area, while boosting the city’s festive activities during the celebration.
