It will allow access to a fund of 50 million pesos for economic and environmental development
Santo Domingo.- The Senate of the Republic approved the bill that declares the province of La Romana as an ecotourism province, an initiative promoted by Senator Eduard Espiritusanto, representative of said province.
That initiative aims to promote alternative tourism models that favor economic efficiency, social equity, cultural promotion, and environmental conservation throughout the province.
With this law, La Romana will have access to the Provincial Ecotourism Development Fund, with an allocation of fifty million pesos (RD$50,000,000.00) annually; these funds will be used to finance initiatives promoted by the Council and will contribute directly to the economic and environmental development of La Romana.

Another point it considers is the creation of the Ecotourism Development Council of La Romana, an organization with administrative autonomy that will have among its main functions, to establish public policies oriented to ecotourism development, as well as to stimulate investment and execution of sustainable projects in the different municipalities of the province.
