Santo Domingo Norte.- The departure of Enerolisa Núñez has left a deep void in the culture of Villa Mella, affirmed Armando Brazobán Sepúlveda, King of the Brotherhood of the Holy Spirit, highlighting the spiritual and cultural impact of the renowned bearer of the salve.
“Enerolisa was an icon of the salve here in Villa Mella. From a very young age she was devoted to her salve and to prayers; her passing is something very big for us and we don’t know who will be able to fill that void”, expressed Brazobán.

The king compared the dimension of his legacy to great figures of Caribbean popular music, noting that “for us, Enerolisa was the greatest, like Celia Cruz in Cuba”, also underlining her influence in sectors such as Mata de Los Indios and Villa Mella, where her salve marked generations and strengthened community identity. The burial of Enerolisa Núñez brought together hundreds of people who accompanied her remains to the Municipal Cemetery of Villa Mella, in an emotional tribute that included drums, songs and traditional dances. The procession departed from his residence, while family members, musicians, and neighbors sang traditional songs as a show of affection and gratitude towards the one who dedicated his life to preserving the salve as a living expression of faith, culture, and identity. The queen of the salve, as she was called, died on Saturday, February 28 after facing health complications.
