At least five people have died and 41 remain missing after a ferry carrying more than 200 passengers caught fire off Indonesia’s Madura Island, authorities said.
The blaze broke out while the vessel was at sea in East Java province, about 700 kilometers east of Jakarta, triggering a large-scale search and rescue operation.
Emergency crews continue searching for the missing as investigators work to determine the cause of the fire.
