Santo Domingo.– The governments of the Dominican Republic and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela announced this Sunday the beginning of a process of gradual normalization of their diplomatic and consular relations, as a result of the dialogue held between both parties.
According to a joint statement issued by both governments and published on the X account of the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the initiative will be supported by a consensus-based roadmap that will define the stages and actions to progressively restore ties between both countries.
In a first phase, the process contemplates the adoption of the necessary measures to reactivate consular services, with the objective of addressing the needs of the citizens of both nations. Subsequently, progress will be made towards the normalization of diplomatic relations, in accordance with the schedule agreed upon by the parties.

The statement indicates that this decision responds to the shared interest of strengthening institutional communication channels, for the benefit of the nationals of both countries and the historical ties of friendship that unite the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

Likewise, both governments reaffirmed their commitment to conduct this process through dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to the principles of international law.
