Bogotá, June 26 (EFE).- Colombian authorities arrested four dissidents of the former FARC who participated on June 10 in the 19 attacks with explosives and armed harassment in the departments of Valle del Cauca and Cauca (southwest), which left eight dead and dozens injured.
The Police detailed this Thursday in a statement that those arrested are part of the Jaime Martínez front of the Central General Staff (EMC), the largest dissident group of the FARC, and are attributed with the planning and execution of the attacks in the municipality of Jamundí, in Valle del Cauca.
For that reason, they must answer for the crimes of conspiracy to commit a crime, terrorism, aggravated homicide, and carrying firearms.
These people, expressed the director of the Colombian Police, General Carlos Fernando Triana, are part of the EMC support networks in Jamundí, a city near Cali.
“During the joint action, a pistol, ammunition, money, bracelets, mobile equipment and propaganda material from the criminal structure were seized,” added the officer on the social network X.
On June 10th, there were seven attacks in Valle del Cauca and twelve in Cauca that claimed the lives of eight people, including two police officers.
In those departments, there is a presence of dissidents from the extinct FARC, bands inheriting paramilitarism, and the guerrilla group of the National Liberation Army (ELN).
In total, the attacks left more than 40 people injured in different municipalities of the two departments and were attributed to the FARC dissidents commanded by alias ‘Iván Mordisco’, one of the main leaders of the EMC.

This wave of violence also occurs in a context of increasing political tension and armed violence in several regions of the country, where illegal armed groups operate, disputing territorial control, especially in the southwest for being an outlet to the Pacific Ocean.
