Berlin.- Germany expressed its support this Tuesday for the Colombian people following the devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake that shook much of the Andean country the day before, causing at least 169 deaths and serious material damage.
“I am following with dismay the news about the serious earthquake in Colombia. My deepest condolences to the victims and their families. I wish much strength to the numerous people who are working in the relief efforts during the coming hours and days,” wrote the German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, on his X account.

Also their Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, assured that his thoughts are with the people of Colombia.
Many people have lost their loved ones or are searching for those who remain missing, he pointed out on his social media, and wished a “speedy recovery” to the injured.
“The Colombian people can count on our support in these difficult times,” assured the German conservative politician.
The number of people dead from the 7.4 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale rose to 169, while the injured are now 668, according to a partial report released this Tuesday by the Colombian Association of Capital Cities (Asocapitales).
