Jerusalem.- The Hamas-dependent government of
Gaza accused Israel this Sunday of subjecting the Strip to a “slow death” and of having allowed only 41% of the necessary humanitarian aid to enter in the 80 days of ceasefire, during which that country has committed 969 violations of the truce, according to reports.
In a statement, the Gazan Executive indicates that during the ceasefire, which came into effect on October 10, Israeli forces have killed 418 Palestinians and wounded another 1,141, and committed “serious and systematic violations of the agreement” and its attached humanitarian protocol.
Among the 969 violations cited, there are 298 incidents of direct shooting at civilians, 54 incursions of military vehicles into residential areas, 455 bombings and “selective attacks” against unarmed civilians and their homes, as well as 162 bombings and destruction of homes, institutions and civilian buildings.
Only 10% fuel entered
In the humanitarian field, he asserts that Gaza “is facing a slow death,” as Israel “has not provided even the minimum amounts of agreed-upon aid.”
In 80 days, it states that only 19,764 aid trucks have entered out of the 48,000 that should have access (41%), which yields an average of about 250 per day, compared to the 600 it mentions as necessary.
“This has led to a severe and ongoing shortage of food, medicine, water and fuel, and has exacerbated the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip,” the government says.
Regarding fuel, it denounces that only 425 trucks of the 4,000 that should have entered were accessed, with an average of 5 trucks per day out of the 50 that it assures were assigned in the agreement, which represents only 10%.
This leaves hospitals, bakeries, and water and sanitation facilities “practically paralyzed,” it indicates.
EFE asked the Israeli body in charge of allowing the entry of aid, COGAT, for this data, without obtaining a response for the moment.
1.5 million displaced
The government of the enclave estimates that 1.5 million Gazans – out of a total of 2 million – are displaced due to the widespread destruction of buildings and denounces that Israel prevents the entry of tents, mobile homes, caravans and materials for shelters, “in flagrant violation of the agreement and international humanitarian law”.
Reports that twenty people have died due to the collapse, caused by the rain, of 49 homes damaged by the bombings, where they had taken refuge because they had nowhere else to shelter.
Add that two children died due to the extreme cold in displacement camps and denounce that 127,000 tents have become unusable and are no longer suitable to provide even minimal protection.
In the last few hours, according to Gaza Civil Defense, a woman and a child died when a wall collapsed due to the heavy rains and fell into a well, where they drowned.
The Gaza government warns that the Strip is now entering the period known as ‘Al Arbainia’ (the quarantine), characterized by cold weather, which raises fears of more deaths among the displaced if they continue in these conditions.
