New York.- New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the appointment of Edwin Raymond as the new city sheriff, a designation that places the former police officer at the head of one of the main law enforcement agencies in the city.
Raymond, the son of Haitian immigrants, will take over the leadership of the New York Sheriff’s Office after a 15-year career in the New York Police Department (NYPD), where he served in various operational and administrative roles.
Their name gained public notoriety for their denunciations regarding police quotas and for promoting reforms aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and trust between law enforcement and the citizenry.
