The U.S. military carried out a lethal strike against a low-profile vessel in the eastern Pacific on Sunday, marking the first reported operation of this type in more than two months.
U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere targeted the vessel after intelligence indicated it was operating along established drug-trafficking routes. Two people were killed in the operation, according to the command.
The strike is the first reported since June 21, when SOUTHCOM carried out an operation against a vessel in the Caribbean that left two people dead and six survivors.
