A woman has filed a $10 million lawsuit against the New York Yankees after she was struck in the head by a bat that flew out of the hands of Dominican Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez during a game at Yankee Stadium.
According to the lawsuit, Stephanie Duluc, 37, was seated four rows behind home plate when Ramírez swung at a pitch and his bat flew into the stands, striking her in the head. Duluc alleges she suffered a traumatic brain injury and other permanent injuries after the impact knocked her from her seat.
The lawsuit claims the protective netting behind home plate was inadequate and failed to prevent the bat from reaching spectators. It also argues that the netting at Yankee Stadium is lower than that of other Major League Baseball stadiums.
Duluc is seeking $10 million in damages for the injuries she says she sustained during the incident.
