SANTO DOMINGO.– The Águilas Cibaeñas relied on a timely offense in the eighth inning to defeat 4-1 the Leones del Escogido on Sunday night and extend their aspirations of advancing to the Final Series of the 2025-26 autumn-winter baseball tournament.

The Cibao team, which placed its record at 11-7, manufactured three decisive runs in the top of the eighth inning. Leody Taveras broke the tie with a single to center field that drove in Steward Berroa, and later Geraldo Perdomo hit a two-run single that extended the lead and sealed the game. The victory went to Richard Rodríguez (1-1, 3.86), who pitched a scoreless inning, walked one, and struck out one batter. The loss fell to Roel Ramírez (0-1, 27.00), who in his debut allowed three hits and three runs —two earned— in just two-thirds of an inning.
