NEW YORK — Dominican outfielder Juan Soto is staging a spectacular comeback in his offensive performance, which has positioned him as a strong candidate to be a starter in the 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, to be played on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.

In Phase 1, Soto received 1,490,489 votes, placing sixth among the outfielders of the Old Circuit. However, Phase 2 restarts the votes from scratch, allowing his current performance on the field to weigh more than the figures from the start of the campaign, when he was batting only .233 with an OPS of .799. Currently, Soto is on an impressive offensive streak (.333/.486/.784 in his last 25 games), which has caught the attention of fans, analysts, and MLB itself.“My swing, everything is going the right way. The cold is finally gone, so I can have fun now,” Soto commented with a smile, aware of the great moment he is going through.
Support within the Mets and among voters
Soto is not alone among the Mets’ aspirants. Francisco Lindor, leader in votes among National League shortstops, and Pete Alonso, second among first basemen, also advanced to Phase 2. However, Soto’s recent impact places him as the main offensive asset of the New York team heading to the All-Star Game. The Mets manager, Carlos Mendoza, praised the Dominican outfielder’s mentality:“Back then, he didn’t get too discouraged… and now he’s not too confident either. That, for me and for all of us, is truly impressive.”

Phase 2 of the voting will begin this Monday, June 30th at 12 p.m. ET and will conclude on Wednesday, July 2nd at noon. Fans will be able to vote once a day, and the results will be announced live on ESPN on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
If he gets his spot, it would be the second consecutive start in the All-Star Game for Soto, who was the starter last year for the American League and had previously been a reserve between 2021 and 2023.
