Puerto Plata.- The legal proceedings against Dominican baseball player Wander Franco took an unexpected turn this Monday after William Reyes González, father of the minor allegedly involved in the case, formally withdrew the complaint filed against him.
Reyes González, who initially appeared as a civil actor and plaintiff in the case, claimed that it was all about “misunderstandings and manipulations“, assuring that he does not consider Franco responsible for any crime that affects his daughter. The decision was communicated by his lawyer, Dignora Diloné, who, with the consent of the Collegiate Court of Puerto Plata, withdrew from the courtroom.
The case continues under the accusation of the Public Prosecutor’s Office
Despite the withdrawal of the private lawsuit, the Prosecutor’s Office maintains its formal accusation against Wander Franco for alleged crimes of sexual abuse, human trafficking, and money laundering, based on Dominican laws 136-03, 137-03, and 155-17, as well as articles 265, 266, and 267 of the Penal Code for criminal association.The background hearing, which began this Monday, June 2nd, also includes charges against Martha Vanessa Chavalier, the minor’s mother, accused of her alleged participation in the sexual exploitation of her daughter.
