SANTO DOMINGO.- Puerto Rico took advantage of a productive sixth inning to complete the comeback and defeat Curacao 8-4 during the baseball tournament of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.

This is the second victory for the Puerto Ricans who have fallen on one occasion.
Pitcher Miguel Mejía (1-0) earned the win after working two scoreless innings, in which he allowed no hits, two walks, and struck out two. Meanwhile, Finn Kragt (0-1) took the loss after working one and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on one hit.
The Curaçao team remained in the lead until the fourth inning when the team from the Island of Enchantment reacted and tied the game with RBI hits from Kerby Camacho, Kevin Santa, and Yadiel Rivera.
The decisive hit came in the sixth inning, when Santa connected on an RBI single that broke the tie and allowed Jan Hernández to score, who had reached base following a defensive error.
In that same inning, Rubén Castro surprised the defense with a bunt that drove in another run, extending Puerto Rico’s lead and making the score 6-4.
The Puerto Rico team added two more runs in the seventh inning.
