Luka Doncic raises alarms after taking a hit to his right knee against Latvia

Slovenia. The Slovenian basketball team suffered a scare this Saturday when their top player, Luka Doncic, had to leave the friendly match against Latvia after receiving a blow to his right knee.

The incident occurred in the 4th minute of the third quarter, when a teammate accidentally fell on the knee of the Los Angeles Lakers point guard. Doncic left the game limping and went directly to the locker room, which set off alarms in both the Slovenian coaching staff and the NBA. Although he was attended to immediately, the star player did not return to the court. Subsequently, he returned to the bench dressed in civilian clothes to accompany the team during the rest of the match at the Xiaomi Arena in Riga.

Doubtful for Eurobasket 2025

The national team doctors are awaiting the test results to determine the severity of the injury. If a significant injury is confirmed, his participation in the Eurobasket 2025, which will be held from August 27 to September 14 in Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia, would be compromised.
