HOUSTON.– Morocco defeated Canada 3-0 this Saturday and secured their qualification for the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, in a match played at Houston Stadium for the round of 16.

The Canadian side started with intensity and generated several chances during the first half, but failed to capitalize against an organized Moroccan defense and an inspired Yassine Bono, who was once again decisive between the posts.

The difference came in the second half, when Azzedine Ounahi opened the scoring in the 50th minute with a shot from outside the box following a set-piece play. Later on, Ounahi himself extended the lead in the 82nd minute, securing his brace and sealing the African victory.

Already in stoppage time, Soufiane Rahimi sealed the match with Morocco’s third goal, following a quick offensive transition led by Brahim Díaz.

With this result, Canada says goodbye to the World Cup after a historic participation as host country, while Morocco advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face France.
