Sports Desk (EFE).- Patrick Mahomes, three-time champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, stated this Thursday that he will not play with the United States flag football team in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, as he prefers to give way to the young players.

“I think I’ll leave that to the younger players since I’ll be a bit older by the time that competition comes around,” said the quarterback, recognized as the Most Valuable Player in Super Bowls LIV, LVII, and LVIII.
Mahomes, who is 29 years old, considered that the 32 years he will be when he arrives at the summer event in Los Angeles will be far from his physical prime.
Despite being ruled out for the upcoming games, in which flag football will be part of the Olympic program for the first time, the considered best active quarterback highlighted the opportunity this will represent for many of his teammates.

“I think it’s great this opportunity at the Olympics to show the NFL to the whole world through flag football,” mentioned the quarterback in a press conference at the end of the training of the American Conference champions.
The two-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowl player spoke about the importance of paving the way for young people and used what he tries to do with the Chiefs as an example. “It’s a pleasure to come to work every day. Adding new guys gives you a new boost. A new spirit to go out and be even better. There are many young guys, I try to connect with them as much as possible and at the same time bring out the best I have for the team,” he explained.
Seek revenge
Chiefs’ goal, according to Mahomes, is to shake off last February’s Super Bowl LIX defeat, bring out the best in their teammates, and lead them to win their fourth Super Bowl since 2019.

“When you lose a Super Bowl, it’s hard to come back. Many of these guys hadn’t finished with a defeat in the title game, so I’m sure they’ll be motivated to get back on the field and try to find a way to get back to the Super Bowl and win it this year,” concluded the quarterback.
With Patrick Mahomes at the helm, the Chiefs have played in five of the last six Super Bowls, with victories in editions LIV, LVII, and LVIII and defeats in LV, against Tom Brady’s Buccaneers; and in LIX against Jalen Hurts’ Eagles.
