Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader stated that his Government maintains an open attitude toward the concerns expressed by different sectors of the population and assured that the manifestations of discontent recorded in recent days are being evaluated with attention by the authorities.
During an interview granted to the Corripio Communications Group, the president addressed the social landscape marked by protests, pot-banging demonstrations, and debates on social media related to the cost of living and other concerns affecting citizens.
Abinader explained that government institutions have established communication channels with the groups that have made their demands public, with the aim of identifying the causes of the unrest and seeking solutions that respond to those needs.

The ruler acknowledged that some of the claims raised by the citizenry are legitimate and deserve to be addressed, which is why he reiterated his administration’s commitment to follow up on every situation that impacts the population.

Regarding the increase in the cost of some products and services, the head of State pointed out that the Dominican economy continues to face the effects of a complex international context. He indicated that, despite this outlook, the Government has promoted various measures to reduce the impact on Dominican households.
However, he maintained that the country continues to show positive indicators in areas such as economic growth, investment, and job creation, aspects that, in his view, reflect the joint effort of the population and the productive sector.
The president also called on the citizenry and the different national actors to maintain a climate of peace, respect, and understanding, considering that dialogue is the best way to face the challenges the country is going through.
Likewise, he highlighted that, although the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) possesses broad representation in the National Congress, the Executive Branch continues to promote consensus with social organizations, productive sectors, and political forces to advance initiatives of national interest.
