Santiago. – Reverend Andrés Amauri Rosario Henríquez, recently appointed by Pope Leo XIV, will be ordained by the Archdiocese of Santiago de los Caballeros as its new Auxiliary Bishop, next Saturday, September 20th at 10:00 A.M. in the Multipurpose Hall of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra.
The metropolitan archbishop, Monsignor Héctor Rafael Rodríguez, will confer the episcopal ordination – of bishop – in a solemn ceremony and in the company of other concelebrants and special guests, according to Father Regino Alfonso Collado, in charge of the Archdiocesan Pastoral of Communication; ”everything is ready for the ordination of the new auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese, after a time of prayer and waiting”.
Father Amauri Rosario sets a precedent by being the first bishop appointed in the Dominican Republic by the Supreme Pontiff, currently serving as rector of the San Pio X Minor Seminary, administrator of the Santos Ángeles Custodios parish, and also acting as a teacher at the School of Theology for Deacons.
He has an extensive career, a graduate in philosophy from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (Pucmm), studies in Theology at the Seminario Pontificio Santo Tomas de Aquino and a diploma in Priestly Formation from the Pontifical Gregorian University, in Rome, Italy, among other trainings.
For the liturgical ceremony within the Jubilee year, the presence of civil and military authorities from the province and the entire country is expected, as well as faithful from different pastoral areas.

The Archdiocese of Santiago de los Caballeros was created in 1953 by the Bull ”Si Magna et Excelsa” dated September 25, year XVI of His Holiness Saint Pius XXII. It was elevated to the category of Archdiocese on February 14, 1994, by Pope John Paul II, erecting Santiago as the metropolitan see of the ecclesiastical province.
As an ecclesiastical jurisdiction territory, it includes the provinces of Santiago, Espaillat (Moca), as well as the municipality of San José de las Matas.
