Punta Cana. – The artisans participating in the Asonahores Commercial Exhibition agreed that the event became a key platform to showcase their products and expand their customer base, both within the tourism sector and in the local market.
José Damián Matías, from M.I.L. de Arte y Artesanía, pointed out that spaces like this allow his workshop to reach people who would not otherwise know his work. “Here, hotels, suppliers, and direct clients interested in our pieces approached us. That opens new doors and ensures that the effort of the artisans has a greater reach,” he expressed.
For Teresa Ruiz, owner of a craft workshop in higüero, direct contact with buyers represents a unique opportunity. “Presenting our faceless dolls, wallets, and earrings at this exhibition gave us visibility and generated real interest in those seeking authentic Dominican products,” she stated.
Similarly, Ofelia Méndez, from DYLEMI Care, valued the experience as a bridge to the hotel sector. “Our oils and soaps sparked curiosity. Many clients want to take these products to their gift shops and that is growth for us,” she said.
Dali del Castillo, from Piezas de Arte RD, highlighted the importance of direct contact with the public. “By showing our hand-painted wallets and hats, people not only got to know the pieces, they also heard the story behind them, and that creates a bond that translates into sales and loyalty”.
The artisans agreed that this type of exhibition promoted by Asonahores not only boosts the marketing of their products, but also contributes to the economy generated by the crafts circulating in the communities from which they come.
