Azua.– The councilman of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Rafael Corcho, proposed to the Council of Councilmen of the municipality of Azua to declare Guido Gómez Mazara persona non grata, in the event that he does not offer a public apology for the statements he made during a radio program.
The initiative, which the councilman requested to be included in the agenda for the next ordinary session, scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, was announced through his social media channels.
Corcho maintained that the statements attributed to Gómez Mazara, in which he expressed that “he who has an agricultural property in Azua is like having nothing,” represent an offense to the province and, especially, to agricultural producers.
The councilman highlighted that Azua is one of the country’s main agricultural provinces, recognized for the production of tomatoes, coffee, bananas, avocados, beans, and other important crops that contribute significantly to the national economy.
Likewise, he considered that those statements devalue the effort of thousands of men and women who work in the field, which is why he understands that the Council of Councilors must assume an institutional position in defense of the dignity and prestige of the municipality.
So far, Guido Gómez Mazara has not made a public statement regarding the request submitted by councilman Rafael Corcho.
