CAMACOESRD organized the panel “Health and wellness tourism: new opportunities for tourism in the Dominican Republic”

Santo Domingo. – The Official Chamber of Commerce of Spain in the Dominican Republic (CAMACOESRD), through its Tourism Committee, organized the panel “Health and Wellness Tourism: New Opportunities for Tourism in the Dominican Republic.” In the panel participated Víctor Atallah Lajam, Minister of Public Health; Brenda Morales Mejía, director of the Tourism Promotion Council (CONFOTUR); Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS); and Amelia Reyes Mora, vice president of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism.

“With these presentations we are presenting the current panorama and trends in health and wellness tourism, as well as anticipating opportunities, challenges and strategies to position this country as a leading destination in this segment and, at the same time, reaffirm the vision that is held as an integral health and wellness destination”, highlighted Paco Pérez, president of the Official Chamber of Commerce of Spain in the country.

According to the president of CAMACOESRD, health and wellness tourism can position the Dominican Republic as a complete destination that combines quality medical care, integral wellness, and cultural experiences, thereby contributing to sustainable economic growth and local employment, as well as the improvement of infrastructure, always with international standards, safety, and social responsibility. Pérez, who thanked the speakers for their time and contributions, advocated for investment opportunities in hospitals, private clinics, and resorts with health services, spas, aesthetic medicine, digital health, and comprehensive wellness to transcend into responsible investments and at the same time propose frameworks for action to develop a competitive and sustainable health and wellness tourism offer in the Dominican Republic.

Professionals, investors, and entrepreneurs in the healthcare, hospitality, and wellness sectors, medical service providers, such as hospitals, clinics, and specialist doctors, tour operators, travel agencies, hospitality companies and resorts with health and spa services, and financial institutions, among others.
